Understanding the CEO & CFO Views of Cybersecurity: The New Role of HR in Protecting the Organization Presented by Louis R. Lessig, Esquire, SHRM-SCP, SPHR

Peering outside of your office the CEO as well as the CFO in organizations today are becoming increasingly concerned about cybersecurity and the challenges go far beyond what a CIO can control.  Issues surrounding organizational electronic data, how to safeguard the “secret sauce” and ensure that there is no interruption in services as well as revenue generation has become part of the nightmares that wake up even the most discerning C-Suite officials.

Today HR must understand and grapple with the real world pressures related to this complex and ever changing issue in order to support and design the tools necessary to carry out the goals of those leading their organization.  To succeed in this technology driven environment where information is created exponentially a revised policy is not the answer.  Nor is precluding the use of personal devices at the office.  The Internet of Things and the ubiquitous nature of technology in the workplace requires HR to immerse itself in the issues raised by the CEO and CFO. Subsequently designing supports that provide a stronger level of confidence from the C-Suite in the activities of the organization as a whole.

Program Objectives:

  • Gaining an understanding of the major issues facing a CEO and CFO regarding cybersecurity;
  • Learning about the latest findings related to the habits of organizational activities in a cyber world;
  • Examine the state of government interventions to assist organizations in dealing with cybersecurity issues, including breaches and obligations related to the same;
  • Consider your organizational strategic plan in terms of designing a workplace that reduces the risk of a major cyber breach;
  • Understand the best way that HR can assist in evaluating the existing workforce to support proactive cyber defensive activities.
